It’s the twentieth day on our advent calendar – five days to go! Now’s the time to start thinking about the main meal on Christmas Day (especially the all important timings!) – and we have an alternative recipe that is perfect for Christmas parties with all the flavour of Christmas dinner.
Every year, approximately 10 million turkeys are consumed in the UK for Christmas Dinner – which is a lot of leftover Boxing Day sarnies! Turkey has been the go to choice for Christmas Dinner since the 1950’s, reportedly due to being able to serve the whole family (with room for leftovers) at a lower price, with the traditional goose falling from mainstream favour.
Whilst arguably not the favourite part of Christmas Dinner for many, the day wouldn’t be complete without a few Brussels Sprouts at the table. At a time of over-feasting and sweet treats, Brussels Sprouts are also a healthy option for many at this time of year – did you know an 80g portion contains about 4 times more vitamin C than an orange? Better swallow our pride and go for seconds!
